The specific drawings I submitted to this show are not like my current work. They are much subtler in comparison but are still just as personal for me. I made them in the winter of 2018, when I was working diligently on my graduate research in the chilly state of Vermont. I drew these illustrations in my quiet, snowed-in apartment, when I needed time for myself to not think about research, or how bitter cold it was outside, or how much I missed my family. The drawings are imperfect: I couldn't draw feet or faces back then, and there are subtle pencil marks that I never got around to erasing. I love these drawings all the same, because they reflect the very beginnings of when I started to find my voice as an artist.
