The Art That Gets Us Through presents artwork created in relation to mental health - the pieces made in the pit, that helped to get out of the pit, or were made possible because of the time spent navigating the pit. We use "the pit" as a metaphor for the lived experience of depression (or whichever word best fits - it could be anxiety, the spiral, disconnection, among a host of other names). However it appears, this exhibition honors the creative work that emerges in relationship to those moments — not to glamorize suffering, but to give space to the wisdom, beauty, or truth that can grow from it.
